Russian Forces Increase Their Presence in Pokrovsk — Intense Battle for Control Continues
The situation in the Pokrovsk sector remains extremely tense and unpredictable.
According to military experts, Russia has already concentrated over 170,000 of its troops in this frontline area, significantly exceeding the previous numbers of around 110,000 in summer.
Analysts note that the occupiers planned to quickly seize Pokrovsk within two weeks, but armed clashes have been ongoing for months without a decisive breakthrough.
Ukrainian defenders are facing tremendous challenges as they hold the line against regular sabotage operations carried out by Russian military units, who aim to weaken Ukraine’s logistical capabilities, identify command centers, and adjust artillery fire using drones and aviation.
Experts indicate that hostilities are not only focused on the outskirts but also within the city itself, as Russian forces attempt to establish observation points and fortify positions.
Ivan Tymochko, head of the Reserve Council, stated that Russian troops are not only trying to infiltrate Pokrovsk through assault units but are also working to establish positions in its vicinity, with combat already underway in some districts.
This suggests that the Russians are not just attempting to take the city but to cement control over its territory, complicating Ukraine’s military efforts and demanding additional strategic resilience.
