Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued an important statement confirming the successful implementation of agreements with the German government regarding the supply of modern Patriot air defense systems.

According to the head of state, these deals significantly enhance Ukraine’s defensive capabilities, particularly its ability to protect its airspace from Russian terror attacks.

Zelensky emphasized that the development of Ukraine’s air defense system results from prolonged negotiations and efforts that have now yielded tangible results.

He expressed sincere gratitude to Germany, especially Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and to everyone involved in facilitating this strategic step.

In his address, the president also promised ongoing work to further improve the air defense system.

It is expected that Ukraine will soon receive additional missile systems and sign new contracts with American manufacturers for more Patriot systems.

Background to these agreements began in July, when the US and Germany agreed to support Ukraine in strengthening its defense capabilities by supplying five new Patriot units.

By the end of September, the German government confirmed the transfer of two surface-to-air missile complexes planned for 2025.

On October 20, Zelensky announced preparations for a contract with the US to purchase an additional 25 Patriot systems, marking another move toward securing Ukrainian skies.
