Ukrainian Drones Cause Significant Damage to Russian Oil Terminal in Tuapse: Long-term Effects for Kremlin

Chas Pravdy - 02 November 2025 18:23

On the night of November 2, Ukrainian military forces launched a drone attack on the Russian port of Tuapse, located in Krasnodar Krai.

The strike resulted in extensive damage to the oil terminal, destroying part of the port infrastructure, including four oil loading berths.

A fire broke out on a tanker as a consequence of the attack.

This action is expected to have far-reaching consequences for Russia, as the Tuapse port accounts for up to 20% of the country’s crude oil exports.

According to Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, the repercussions go beyond physical damage to the technological chains involved in oil dispatching, impacting companies that operate in the port.

Ukrainian authorities emphasize that ports operating under sanctions involve risks for vessels and businesses, with many companies already forced to consider these dangers.

Sources also report that Ukrainian drones from the Security Service and other defense units carried out the attack, which involved five hits.

Damage was inflicted on port buildings, four oil loading structures were compromised, and a fire broke out on a tanker.

The attack underscores the long-term strategic implications for Russia, disrupting crucial export infrastructure and potentially raising insurance premiums, thereby discouraging maritime activity in the region.
