Partisan Activities: Railway Infrastructure Arson in Russia and Occupied Territories Present New Challenges for Military Logistics

Chas Pravdy - 02 November 2025 14:27

Currently, there is a noticeable increase in partisan activities aimed at undermining railway infrastructure across Russia and the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.

According to official reports from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the number of fires and arsons on railway objects has surged over recent months.

These actions span broad regions, including Murmansk, Rostov, Tyumen, Orenburg regions, as well as the Karachay-Cherkessia and Chechen Republics, and the Krasnodar Territory.

Furthermore, the insurgent movement has intensified on the temporarily occupied Ukrainian lands, specifically in the Luhansk region and Crimea, where targeted arson of strategic railway facilities is conducted.

Recent reports also mention explosions on the Pskov–Saint Petersburg railway, indicating a rise in sabotage and diversionary acts.

Military analysts emphasize that such activities not only damage infrastructure but also significantly undermine the mobility capabilities of Russian troops.

This disrupts logistics operations, hampers the movement of equipment and personnel, and weakens Russian offensive potential.

Videos and images of these fires are publicly available, demonstrating the scope of these acts.

Notably, partisan efforts have been observed in the Berdyansk district, where a railway between Chernihivka and Stulneve was blown up, causing a Russian military train with cargo to derail.

These incidents highlight the resilience and active resistance of the sabotage groups working to destabilize enemy logistics routes and provide strategic advantages to Ukrainian defenders.
