Drone Attack in Tuapse: A Breakthrough in the Security Situation on Russia’s Black Sea Coast

Chas Pravdy - 02 November 2025 04:25

On the night from Sunday to Monday, November 2, a major incident occurred in the strategic Russian port of Tuapse located on the Black Sea coast.

Preliminary reports indicate that an unidentified drone launched an attack on port facilities, leading to significant damage.

Debris from the drone struck an oil tanker docked in the port, damaging its deck and causing a large fire.

Firefighters responded swiftly, evacuating the crew and fighting the blaze to prevent further destruction.

As a result of the incident, port infrastructure objects and a residential building in Sosnovy village nearby were also damaged.

Additionally, drone debris partially damaged the local railway station, potentially affecting regional and national logistics.

It is important to note that Tuapse port is one of Russia’s key oil export hubs, hosting an oil terminal and refinery operated by ‘Rosneft,’ which have repeatedly been targeted by Ukrainian attacks aimed at weakening Russia’s economic capacity.

Sources indicate that Kyiv has intensified strikes against Russian oil processing facilities and fuel depots, attempting to disrupt fuel supplies to the Russian military and increase the economic costs of the war for Moscow.
