Deynega Warns: Ukraine Risks Losing Pokrovsk and Maryinka Without Urgent Decisions
Former Deputy Minister of Defense and founder of the charitable organization ‘Come Back Alive,’ Vitaly Deynega, expressed grave concern on Facebook regarding the battlefield situation, emphasizing that Ukraine has effectively lost control over the city of Pokrovsk.
According to him, due to the lack of immediate actions to withdraw troops from critical locations and the real state of affairs on the frontlines, the risk of losing additional strategic positions and valuable defense forces increases dramatically.
Deynega stressed the urgent need to start withdrawing troops from Pokrovsk and Maryinka, as failure to do so could leave Ukrainian forces without essential protective means and evacuation options.
He added that if a relevant order is not signed soon, the situation could worsen: equipment could be lost, chances for its salvage and evacuation diminish, and fortifications in the rear could quickly fall into enemy hands.
The politician pointed out that Ukraine’s military units are already facing difficulties in defending these key cities, with Russian troops employing drones for reconnaissance and small assault groups trying to infiltrate urban areas, complicating the defensive efforts.
Earlier reports from the Defense Forces indicated that Ukrainian troops have not encircled Pokrovsk and are engaged in intense fighting to repel Russian attacks.
The circumstances highlight the urgent need for swift and decisive actions to maintain strategic positions and ensure the safety of soldiers and civilians in the region.
