Belgium Records Airspace Violations Near Military Base: Unknown Drones Spark Concerns

Chas Pravdy - 02 November 2025 02:21

Reports from Belgium indicate that on November 1, several unidentified drones were detected over the Kleine-Brogel military airbase near the town of Pér in Limburg province.

The police responded swiftly by deploying a helicopter to intercept and locate the operators of these drones, but efforts proved unsuccessful.

Preliminary data suggests the devices headed towards the Netherlands, though their exact purpose remains unknown.

Belgium’s Minister of Defense publicly emphasized via the social platform X that drones flying over military installations are strictly prohibited.

He called on the Ministry of Defense to intensify efforts to shoot down such devices.

Local authorities expressed concern over repeated airspace infringements, especially near the strategically important base, which is under increased scrutiny due to plans to station F-35 fighters there.

Incidents of suspicious drone flights have already been reported in regions like Eissenborin and Marche-en-Famenne, heightening regional tensions amid ongoing geopolitical instability.
