SBU expose Russian agents attempting to disrupt Dnipro’s heating season through airstrike coordination

Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) operatives identified and detained two FSB agents who were involved in directing enemy airstrikes on critical energy infrastructure in the city of Dnipro.

Working closely with local logistics companies providing cargo delivery services, these agents gathered intelligence by photographing key energy facilities and marking their locations on Google Maps.

This information aided the Russian attackers in precisely targeting power substations, heating plants, and other vital facilities that supply electricity, heat, and water to the city’s residents, schools, hospitals, and kindergartens.

Investigations revealed that one of the suspects had been on the Russian radar even before the full-scale invasion, owing to his transportation activities to Belgorod Oblast in Russia.

In the fall, a Russian special service operative recruited him remotely, assigning him to coordinate missile strikes on Dnipro.

To accomplish the task, he involved his partner, a driver who made regular freight runs and photographed the targets.

The collated intelligence was then forwarded via messengers to Russian handlers.

Furthermore, the detainees possessed pro-Kremlin propaganda items, including flags of Russian airborne assault units and a statuette depicting Vladimir Putin, indicating their active collaboration with the enemy.

Ukrainian authorities believe that these individuals are engaged in high treason, and their detention marks a significant step in safeguarding the city’s critical infrastructure ahead of the upcoming heating season.

The suspects face life imprisonment with confiscation of property under Ukrainian law, highlighting the severity of enemy espionage activities in Ukraine.
