Intense Fighting Near Pokrovsk: Russian Forces Concentrate Heavy Reserves
Heavy clashes are ongoing in the areas surrounding the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region, reflecting the significant military focus of Russian troops on this strategically important location.
According to Ukrainian military sources, Russia has deployed substantial reserves, amounting to at least 12,000 soldiers, including special forces from the Main Intelligence Directorate and units from the 51st Army.
Denys, commander of the drone unit “Shersni Dovbush” of the 68th Separate Ranger Brigade, reports that the enemy is attempting to flank Ukrainian positions using mobile small infantry groups and is blocking logistics north of the city.
Ukrainian troops emphasize that Pokrovsk has not been completely encircled and remains under their control.
A map of the battlefield as of November 1 at 12:50 shows that the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s special operations have gained Russian media attention due to the active use of FPV drones and attack UAVs by Russian forces to strike various targets.
Since the city still hosts about one and a half thousand civilians, Ukrainian military personnel face difficulties conducting active firefights.
Additionally, Russian soldiers disguise themselves in civilian clothing to evade detection and complicate Ukrainian efforts.
According to military sources, any activity within civilian areas involves caution, as reconnaissance operations are underway under the cover of civilian populations.
Recent reports, including from ZN.UA, indicate that Ukrainian GUR special units launched a complex airborne operation under the command of Lieutenant General Kyril Budanov in Pokrovsk.
The soldier with the call sign “Alex” notes that the actions of the GUR troops are tactical maneuvers rather than a traditional counteroffensive, stressing the importance of cautious interpretation of these operations.
