Fighting for Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad: Ukrainian Forces Hold the Line
On Saturday, November 1, Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, provided a comprehensive update on the current combat situation, with a focus on the critical fronts in Southern Donbas, including Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad.
According to Syrskyi, Ukrainian troops are conducting complex tactical operations aimed at destroying and pushing back Russian occupying forces from strategic areas within this agglomeration.
He noted that Ukrainian military units are resisting significant enemy forces attempting to penetrate residential neighborhoods and disrupt supply routes.
However, he emphasized that there are no plans for a complete encirclement or blockade of the cities; logistics and defensive measures remain active.
The operations involve large-scale deployment, including drone operators, assault units, special forces, military police, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and military intelligence units.
Syrskyi highlighted that the main burden falls on the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which are enduring substantial losses but continue to defend vigorously.
He also stressed that the enemy suffers severe casualties in Pokrovsk and is paying a heavy price for its efforts, reflecting high motivation and fighting spirit among Ukrainian defenders.
Earlier analytical reports indicated that Russian forces are gradually advancing in Pokrovsk, capturing over 267 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory in October alone.
Experts emphasize that stabilizing the situation may require deploying a full brigade rather than just special operations groups.
The enemy is deploying vast resources, including up to 12,000 soldiers for assaults, making the situation tense and highly fluid.
