Russian Tactics in the Lyman Sector: Infiltration, Robotics, and Camouflage

Chas Pravdy - 31 October 2025 15:38

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders report ongoing intense combat operations, with Russian forces focusing on tactics of infiltration and the use of robotic systems for warfare.

According to the 66th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, the Russian military increasingly employs infiltration strategies and enhances their robotic capabilities to achieve tactical objectives.

They use specialized combat formations and attempt various camouflage techniques to hide their positions from Ukrainian reconnaissance drones.

However, these camouflage measures are not always effective; during daylight, enemy positions are often easier to detect due to increased silhouette sizes caused by additional concealment layers.

Military analysts observe a rise in the number and types of UAVs used by the Russians, including Russian-made heavy bombers of the ‘Koschei’ model, which were initially used primarily for logistics.

Alongside drones, the enemy also deploys ground robotic complexes to support logistical needs in the combat zone.

Near Pokrovsk, military actions are hindered by autumn weather, which complicates offensive operations.

Reports indicate that the Russian advances are hampered mainly by weather conditions and the tiring tactics of attrition, supported by reconnaissance drones and adverse weather, stalling their assault attempts.
