Poland intercepts Russian aircraft for the third time in a week over the Baltic Sea
Over the past week, Poland has experienced yet another incident involving Russian aviation activity in the Baltic region.
On October 31st, Polish fighter jets were scrambled once again to intercept a Russian reconnaissance aircraft, the Ilyushin Il-20, which approached the country’s airspace without authorization.
This marks the third such incident within the same week, signaling an escalation in Russian military activity in the area.
According to the Polish military, the aircraft did not violate national borders; however, its transponder was turned off, and no flight plan was provided.
Experts note that this pattern confirms increased Russian military presence and activity over the Baltic Sea, heightening regional tensions and raising concerns among NATO allies.
These recent episodes underscore the urgent need for enhanced surveillance and rapid response systems to counter potential threats in the region.
