Court Sentences Ex-Head of the State Fiscal Service to Six Years in Prison: Nasirov Convicted of Corruption
The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine delivered a long-awaited verdict in the case of former head of the State Fiscal Service, Roman Nasirov.
Following the court proceedings, it was determined that Nasirov was guilty of making illegal decisions benefiting companies linked to ex-MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko.
Based on the evidence, he was sentenced to six years in prison and fined 17,000 hryvnias, which is the maximum penalty for the charge.
Additionally, Nasirov is banned from holding certain positions for three years, potentially affecting his professional future.
Notably, the court acquitted Vladimir Novikov, a co-defendant and associate of Nasirov.
The court also dismissed the civil claim of Ukrgazvydobuvannia to recover 44.8 million hryvnias from Nasirov and Novikov.
The case’s details are still being clarified, but the verdict signals Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption and demonstrates a crackdown on high-ranking officials involved in abuse of authority within state institutions.
