Almost 400 People Evacuated from Donetsk Region in October: Safe Relocation and Social Assistance
In October of this year, a significant and systematic evacuation of civilians from Donetsk region was carried out, which contributed to reducing risks to residents’ lives and health.
According to official data from the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, nearly 400 Ukrainians were able to relocate free of charge to safer areas of the country, including 137 with limited mobility or disabilities.
This operation was extensive, aimed at creating safer conditions for the most vulnerable groups.
Dmytro Pozharsky, Deputy Head of the Department of Social Services of the Social Protection Department of the Regional State Administration, emphasized during a live briefing that in October, 381 people were evacuated, with almost 100 transferred to geriatric institutions, and the rest relocated to various regions of Ukraine where suitable placements were prepared.
He added that over the last week alone, 59 residents of Donetsk were relocated to safer areas.
The primary reason for waiting to evacuate is the upcoming heating season, during which residents are checking whether their homes will be warm, with intact radiators and no flooding from neighbors.
Notably, this week, an additional 10 people evacuated from Donetsk were resettled in Zhytomyr region.
Overall, evacuation activities have been carried out in Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Volyn, Vinnytsia, and Kyiv regions.
These efforts are an essential part of the broader humanitarian and security measures.
Since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, over 1.3 million civilians from controlled parts of Donetsk have been evacuated, including more than 200,000 children and 47,000 people with disabilities.
Currently, about 200,000 civilians remain in the territory under Ukrainian control who need support and opportunities for relocation to safer regions.
