Ukraine Responds Strongly to Russian Manipulations Regarding Media “Corridors” and Remembers Ilovaisk
Ukraine has issued a stern warning against recent Russian claims about so-called “media corridors” into conflict zones, emphasizing its unwavering position and clarifying the realities on the ground.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry publicly urged both international and Ukrainian journalists to be cautious and not to trust Vladimir Putin’s statements, which propose visits to active combat areas under the pretext of temporary ceasefires.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Georgiy Tkyhy, highlighted that any such trips without Kyiv’s consent would constitute illegal actions with long-term reputational and legal consequences.
During a press conference, Tkyhy remarked that these proposals are mere provocations designed to prolong the conflict, recalling the tragic events in Ilovaisk in 2014 where similar schemes ended in tragedy.
He warned journalists against trusting Russian temptations to enter conflict zones, emphasizing that Russia’s primary goal is to drag out the war and discredit Ukraine on the international stage.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continue intense fighting near Kharkiv’s Kupiansk and its outskirts, with official statements dismissing claims of encirclement of Ukrainian troops in these areas as false.
The 7th Rapid Response Corps and Ukrainian Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi confirmed that Russian forces have failed to secure positions in Pokrovsk and that Russia’s assertions of encirclement are fabricated.
These statements align with Kyiv’s ongoing efforts to counter Russian disinformation campaigns aimed at destabilizing Ukraine.
The Ukrainian military remains resilient, demonstrating strong defensive capabilities and strategic professionalism.
The Ukrainian government calls on the global community to remain vigilant and not fall prey to Russian propaganda, maintaining objective coverage of the ongoing hostilities.
