Zelensky Announces New Sanctions Against Russia: Preparing for Economic Pressure and Strategic Measures

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his address on October 20th, confirmed that the Ukrainian government is actively working on developing and implementing new sanctions against the Russian Federation.

Specifically, these measures target Russia’s military production and propaganda efforts aimed at strengthening its aggression against Ukraine.

Zelensky announced that preparations are underway for the 20th EU sanctions package, which will include key targets within Russia’s economy and military industry.The Head of State emphasized the importance of heightened diplomatic activity by Ukrainian officials and representatives across European countries outside the EU to expand the impact of sanctions and maximize their effectiveness.

He pointed out that work is already in progress to synchronize Ukrainian legislation with the latest EU sanctions package, ensuring faster and more effective responses to emerging challenges.Zelensky also mentioned that preparations for the 20th EU sanctions package against Russia have already begun.

He highlighted that initial positive signals are emerging from the US regarding future measures against Russian oil companies.

He stressed that all Russian schemes used to circumvent sanctions must be blocked, serving as a strong signal to Russia that the continuation of the conflict hinges on ending its warfare.

Zelensky expressed gratitude to international partners for their vigorous and tangible pressure, emphasizing the crucial role of unity and coordinated actions to achieve strategic goals efficiently and swiftly.
