UN independent commission reports systematic crimes by Russia against Ukrainian civilians
An independent United Nations commission investigating the situation in Ukraine has officially reported serious violations of international humanitarian law committed by Russia, including systematic drone attacks resulting in civilian casualties, destruction of residential areas, infrastructure, and targeted deportations of Ukrainian citizens from occupied territories.
According to the official report submitted to the Third Committee of the General Assembly, Russia is responsible for a combination of violence, forced displacement, and systemic deportation of Ukrainian populations.
Documented cases include violent evictions, confiscation of documents and property, and gross human rights violations, causing profound human suffering and distress among affected civilians.
Over 500 recordings of crimes have been analyzed; more than half were technically verified, with over 200 interviews confirming grave rights violations.
Investigations also noted that Russia’s claims of Ukrainian drones targeting civilian sites in occupied regions remain unsubstantiated due to restricted access to those areas.
The devastating impact of Russian aggression touches every region of Ukraine — especially Sumschyna, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions, now zones of destruction and mass displacement due to targeted attacks and industrial sabotage.
The use of deportation policies and forced displacement of civilians has drawn international condemnation, emphasizing the urgent need for global support to protect Ukraine’s population amid ongoing conflicts.
