A landmark event in Ukraine-Croatia military collaboration took place in Kyiv, where a Memorandum of Intent was signed to deepen and expand defense-industrial cooperation between the two nations.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the agreement aims to establish joint production chains for weapons and military equipment, as well as to organize a joint industrial forum of manufacturers early next year.

This development marks a significant step in enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities amidst ongoing support, with Croatia having already delivered 13 military aid packages totaling over 200 million euros.

The next aid package, the 14th, is expected soon, with a 15th package anticipated by the end of this year.

Besides, discussions also covered Croatia’s participation in the SAFE mechanism, and Croatia’s interest in joining the PURL initiative and collaborative development of FPV drone manufacturing.

Shmyhal highlighted Croatia’s active role in the mine clearance coalition, noting that Croatian company DOK-ING has already provided Ukraine with 69 mine clearance vehicles and began manufacturing spare parts locally.

The Ukrainian Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex, sharing insights and future prospects to bolster Ukraine’s security amid global challenges.

Furthermore, Croatia’s parliament approved a decision to restore mandatory basic military training, which will last two months, with the first conscripts planned for late this year and active service starting in 2026, reflecting the country’s efforts to reinforce national defense in response to evolving security threats.
