Italian Defense Minister Predicts Ukraine’s Inability to Reclaim Occupied Territories

In a recent interview, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto made a surprising statement regarding Ukraine’s prospects of regaining all occupied territories, including regions lost in 2014 and after February 2022.
According to him, the likelihood of reclaiming these lands is minimal due to Russia’s firm stance.
Crosetto explained that Moscow deliberately altered the constitution to declare the occupied areas part of Russia, complicating negotiations and creating insurmountable obstacles for Ukraine’s attempts to recover these regions.
He expressed skepticism about Ukraine’s ability to independently retake its territories even with international assistance, asserting that Russia is unlikely to ever relinquish the occupied lands.
The minister emphasized that Western countries must carefully consider the costs of concessions and their impact on the duration of the conflict.
In the interview, he also highlighted that the US and European countries are exerting pressure on Ukraine to halt military actions and pursue diplomatic solutions.
When asked about the possibility of territorial exchanges, Crosetto stated that the final decision rests with Kyiv, and each side must weigh the human lives at stake against prolonging a conflict that claims thousands of lives on both sides daily.
Italy has already prepared at least ten aid packages for Ukraine, including air defense systems such as SAMP/T batteries.
Details of these packages remain classified to ensure their effectiveness and security.
