Frontline Update: Ukrainian Armed Forces Achieve Successes and Russian Troops Advance in Two Regions

Chas Pravdy - 28 October 2025 13:32

The 1940th day of Ukraine’s defense has brought significant changes to the battlefield, particularly in the Dobropillia area, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces have demonstrated considerable progress.

According to analysts from the DeepState information resource, Ukrainian troops repelled an offensive by Russian occupation forces near the villages of Nove Shakhove and Kucheriv Yar, maintaining a strategic position.

Simultaneously, in two other sectors—the Kupiansk and Donetsk directions—the Russian forces have moved forward.

In the area near the villages of Stepova and Novoselivka, close to Pokrovsk, fighting is ongoing, with Ukrainian defenders trying to hold back the enemy’s advance.

An approximate map of military actions as of October 28 at 12:34 confirms these developments.

Experts suggest that the Russians are closing in on encircling Pokrovsk and estimate how many more kilometers they need to advance to seize the city.

Ukrainian President emphasizes that the enemy’s main objective is still Pokrovsk.

Reports from Russian prisoners indicate that the Kremlin has ordered the capture of this city by mid-November.

However, volunteer Serhiy Sternenko points out logistical challenges: the city currently has minimal transport access, complicating the situation.

The Russian army has concentrated about 200 infantry soldiers in the city, making the situation tense and unpredictable for both sides of the conflict.
