Ceiling of ceasefire at risk: Netanyahu orders major strikes on Gaza amid peace agreement tensions

Chas Pravdy - 28 October 2025 20:33

Amid rising tensions, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the military to conduct forceful strikes in the Gaza Strip, risking the delicate ceasefire brokered earlier between Israel and Hamas.

The decision was made following security consultations, though official details remain undisclosed.

According to Bloomberg, Netanyahu’s directive signals a potential escalation at a time when efforts by the United States aimed at maintaining the ceasefire—which had led to the release of the last hostages—are under threat.

Militants have already announced they are delaying the return of dead bodies of Israeli captives due to violations of the ceasefire by Israel.

Previously, Israel targeted suspected members of Islamic Jihad, believed to be planning attacks against Israeli forces.

U.S.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that these strikes are not viewed as violations since Israel justifies its actions as self-defense, thus illustrating the fragile state of regional peace.
