Belarus prepares to deploy Russian missile system «Oresnik» on its territory

Chas Pravdy - 28 October 2025 20:43

Belarus officially announced plans to deploy the Russian ballistic missile system «Oresnik», which is expected to enter active duty on their territory soon.

According to Belarusian spokesperson Natalia Eismont, the process of creating conditions for the placement of this system in the country is nearing completion.

She states that by the end of 2025, «Oresnik» will be put on combat duty and integrated into Belarus’ defense system.

This development follows closer military cooperation between Russia and Belarus, as Moscow previously used this missile during an attack on Dnipro in November 2024.

Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly expressed intentions to acquire this missile system, and in September, Belarus showcased its exercises «Zapad», during which the deployment of the system was practiced.

The news raises concerns in Ukraine and the European Union about potential escalation and the increase of Russian and Belarusian military presence near Ukraine’s borders.
