New Ukrainian Detentions in Poland Over Espionage Allegations: Rising Dossier of Regional Subversion

Chas Pravdy - 27 October 2025 13:32

Poland continues to conduct high-profile operations against individuals suspected of treason and espionage activities involving Ukrainian citizens.

Recent arrests of two more Ukrainians highlight increased activity by Russian intelligence agencies working in cooperation with local authorities, focused on gathering information about military forces and critical infrastructure.

According to official sources, including Poland’s intelligence coordinator Tomasz Semonyak, these individuals are part of a group of eight suspects apprehended last week.

Evidence gathered by Polish security services indicates that two men aged 32 and 34 were actively collecting data on Polish armed forces and strategically significant sites to support Ukraine’s defense efforts.

The arrests took place in Katowice on October 14.

The Internal Security Agency (ABW) reports that the suspects were operating under direct contact with Russian agents and were planning sabotage activities within Poland.

In light of these events, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that, in collaboration with other intelligence agencies, authorities have detained a total of eight individuals linked with preparations for acts of sabotage in various parts of the country.

Notably, one of the detained Ukrainians, Danilo G., held in Biala Podlaska on October 5, is alleged to have been executing orders from Russian special services.

The Warsaw court has already ordered a three-month detention for the suspect, while Romanian authorities are holding two Ukrainian nationals under arrest for 30 days.

These developments underscore the intensified measures by regional security agencies to counter external threats, reflecting the complex security dynamics in Eastern Europe.
