Russian Occupiers Detain Over Thirty Residents of Enerhodar: The Situation and Emerging Challenges
In the temporarily occupied city of Enerhodar in Zaporizhzhia region, reports of unlawful detention of civilians by Russian occupation forces continue to surface.
According to local authorities, as of October 26, 31 civilians are held in captivity.
Of these, 19 have already received court sentences based on fabricated charges, with sentences ranging from 6 to 25 years of imprisonment.
Four individuals are awaiting judicial decisions, while no information is available about the remaining eight for several years concerning their well-being and whereabouts.
This widespread practice of unlawful detention raises serious concerns among human rights organizations and local residents.
Previously, Mayor Dmytro Orlov reported that 27 civilians, including employees of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, are in captivity.
The local government persists in documenting cases of forcible detention and is doing everything possible to assist the families of the prisoners.
Additionally, a recent court decision in Rostov-on-Don sentenced 21-year-old Yana Suvorova, an administrator of the Telegram channel «Melitopol — it’s Ukraine», to 14 years in prison for involvement in a terrorist act and accusations linked to the shelling of FSB buildings with HIMARS.
The verdict has sparked widespread international condemnation and deep concern over violations of human rights and international law.
