Ukraine Implements Hourly Power Outages Amid Russian Attacks

Chas Pravdy - 25 October 2025 22:05

On Sunday, October 26, several regions across Ukraine will begin implementing hourly power outages for residents.

This decision was made by the National Energy Company «Ukrenergo» in response to massive missile and drone attacks by Russian forces targeting critical energy infrastructure across the country.

According to the company, the outage schedules for residential consumers will operate from 9 a.m.

to 10 p.m.

and involve the application of rolling blackouts, known as HPD (hourly power disconnections), with restriction levels ranging from 0.5 to 1 queue.

Additionally, during the same period, industrial consumers will adhere to power limitation schedules to ease the load on the energy grid during peak times.

The primary reason for these measures lies in the need to counteract the deliberate attacks aimed at destroying energy facilities and destabilizing Ukraine’s power supply.

The company urges residents to monitor official regional energy provider updates regarding the exact timing and locations of power restrictions.

According to DTEK, there are no planned outages in the Dnipropetrovsk region on this day.

Experts emphasize that Ukraine has already taken significant steps to strengthen energy security by creating reserves of power for emergencies and adjusting tactics in anticipation of further attacks.

Military and energy analysts warn that the recent massive strikes are just the beginning of a new wave of energy terror by Russia, designed to weaken Ukraine’s economy and cause energy collapse during the winter months.

Military analyst Vladyslav Obukh points out that Ukrainians must prepare for new challenges and follow recommendations on energy saving to survive the winter without major disruptions or losses.
