Putin on the verge of losing resources: Rutte predicts the end of the so-called ‘Putin era’

Chas Pravdy - 25 October 2025 02:27

The international community’s concern grows over the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine and the state of the Russian leadership, which is increasingly losing its influence.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made a clear statement that Vladimir Putin’s regime is at a critical turning point.

According to Rutte, Russian forces are barely able to make significant advances on the battlefield, and any successes they do achieve are largely the result of enormous human and material losses.

He emphasized that Putin has fewer options left for continuing the war, given the shortage of funds, the depletion of the military force, and the lack of new ideas to sustain current hostilities.

He shared this assessment during a press conference following the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ meeting in London.

Furthermore, Rutte highlighted that new US sanctions against major Russian oil companies will severely impact Moscow’s finances and increase pressure, potentially pushing Russia to the negotiating table.

NATO’s Secretary General also noted that US President Donald Trump is genuinely committed to ending the war and establishing a lasting peace in Ukraine.

Rutte expressed confidence that despite the tough situation, Ukrainian soldiers are fighting bravely, and international aid is yielding tangible results, offering hope for positive developments.

He stated that Putin’s resources—money, troops, and ideas—are running out, while hundreds of thousands of Russians have died due to Kremlin aggression.

The Ukrainian defenders are standing firm, and support from allies is making a difference.

He concluded by urging Europe and the US to continue combining military assistance with strict sanctions to increase pressure on Russia and push it toward dialogue.
