Austrian Court Reviews Extradition of Former SBU General Suspected of Treason
An Austrian court in the Kronburg region has initiated a prompt review regarding the extradition of a former high-ranking official of Ukraine’s security services, accused by Ukrainian investigators and law enforcement agencies of treason.
The individual in question is former chief of the Internal Security Department of the Security Service of Ukraine, Andriy Naumov, who is currently wanted internationally and is present in Austria.
According to the Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigation, he served a one-year prison sentence in Serbia for violating local laws and, in October 2025, relocated to Austria.
His documents were forwarded to Austrian authorities, and now the court must decide on his extradition to Ukraine.
The suspect is suspected of multiple crimes, including treason, with details confirmed by investigative materials.
His name has not been officially disclosed, but based on the available information, it appears to be Andriy Naumov.
It is known that just hours before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Naumov left Ukraine, and shortly thereafter, he was detained at the border between Serbia and North Macedonia.
In December 2023, he was released from Serbian prison, though he is prohibited from leaving the country.
In October of the same year, a Serbian court rejected Ukraine’s extradition request, citing charges of treason and fraud concerning over 3.2 million hryvnias.
