Summary of Combat Operations in Ukraine as of October 23: Russian Military Activity and Ukrainian Defense Achievements
Since the beginning of October 23, active hostilities have intensified across the Ukrainian frontlines, as confirmed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff.
Over this short period, more than one hundred clashes have been reported across various sectors, indicating a high level of enemy activity and tense situation throughout the entire frontline.
According to the reports, the enemy launched 48 air strikes, dropping over a hundred guided bombs, and also used approximately 2,665 kamikaze drones to target Ukrainian positions and civilian infrastructure.
Additionally, Russian forces conducted thousands of artillery, mortar, and rocket shellings, hitting settlements and military positions.
In the South Slobozhanshchyna direction, aggressive attempts to break through and capture several settlements, including Vovchansk and Kamianka, were made—however, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled four attacks around Kupiansk.
The situation remained tense near Bolohivka, with ongoing combat dynamics.
On the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops managed to halt five enemy attacks from areas including Nadiya, Novoselivka, Zarechne, and Shandryholove, thereby maintaining crucial defensive positions.
The Sloviansk region saw Ukrainian forces repelling ten assault attempts in areas such as Yampil, Serebrianka, Siversk, and Vyimka, preserving control over key strategic points.
In Kramatorsk and the surrounding regions, the enemy did not initiate active offensive operations.
On the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian troops made eleven assault attempts in areas like Shcherbynivka, Rusyn Yar, Katerynivka, and Sofiivka.
The most intense fighting was recorded on the Pokrovsk direction, where the enemy launched 31 attacks attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses near Nikanorivka, Myrnograd, and other critical locations.
On the Oleksandrivka sector, Ukrainian forces successfully stopped all eleven enemy attacks around areas such as Filia, Sosnivka, Novohorivka, Orestopil, and Pavlivka.
Meanwhile, in the Huliaypole and Orikhiv sectors, the enemy conducted airstrikes on settlements like Danylivka, Novouspenke, Solodke, and Huliaipole, and attempted to breach defenses in Stepove and Stepnoyi Gyr, but Ukrainian defenders effectively repelled these assaults.
In the Dniprovsk sector, Ukrainian forces managed to fend off three enemy attacks targeting Antonivskyi Bridge, maintaining control over this strategically crucial point.
