Putin stands firm against Western pressures and warns of ‘stunning’ retaliation
Russian President Vladimir Putin recently reiterated his firm stance against any form of pressure from the United States and Western nations.
He emphasized that Russia would never yield to external coercion, even if Western countries attempt to deploy long-range weapons against Russian territory to threaten its sovereignty.
This statement came amidst new U.S.
sanctions targeted at Russia’s largest oil companies, such as ‘Rosneft’ and ‘Lukoil,’ which represent a significant shift in Western policy regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Putin dismissed these sanctions as unfriendly and said they would have limited impact on Russia’s economic well-being, asserting that the Russian energy sector remains resilient despite external pressure.
In a humorous twist, Putin suggested that Western restrictions might backfire on the European Union, citing a ban on purchasing Russian toilets.
Concerning Ukraine’s development of long-range missile systems, such as those with a range of up to 3,000 kilometers, Putin warned that if such weapons are used against Russia, the response will be extremely serious—potentially shocking the West.
Analysts interpret these sanctions as a signal of Washington’s intent to weaken Russia’s financial capabilities and push toward peace negotiations, though the question remains whether major buyers like India will continue purchasing Russian oil.
