Propagandist from Medvedchuk’s circle to face trial: accusations of high treason and Russian aggression support

Chas Pravdy - 24 October 2025 13:32

The Ukrainian court is soon to receive the indictment against Kyrylo Molchanov, a prominent propagandist associated with Viktor Medvedchuk’s network.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has completed its pre-trial investigation and prepared charges involving Molchanov’s alleged acts of high treason, supporting Russia’s armed aggression, and organizing information activities aimed at destabilizing Ukraine and its allies.

According to investigators, after working on banned channels controlled by Medvedchuk in 2022, Molchanov traveled to Moscow.

There, he became one of the leading figures in Kremlin-linked projects such as ‘Second Ukraine’ and ‘Voice of Europe,’ both overseen by Russian intelligence agencies.

Throughout his activities, Molchanov frequently appeared in pro-Kremlin media broadcasts, openly supporting Russia’s military action against Ukraine and organizing protests across the European Union calling for support withdrawal from Kyiv.

He also managed several Telegram channels and YouTube platforms, through which he disseminated disinformation to undermine Ukraine’s stability and sow discord internationally.

The criminal charges include treason during wartime, collaboration with an aggressor state, and justification or glorification of Russia’s military invasion.

If found guilty, Molchanov faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The investigation was conducted under the supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, and the case has already been transferred to the court for hearings.

This development marks another step in Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to combat information warfare and neutralize pro-Kremlin propagandists working against the national interests.
