International Support for Ukraine: France Promises Additional Missiles and Mirage Jets
At the recent Gathering of the Willing coalition meeting held in London on October 24, French President Emmanuel Macron announced significant commitments to strengthen Ukraine’s military support.
Macron stated that shortly, France will deliver additional Aster missiles, new Mirage fighter jets, and update training programs for Ukrainian forces.
This step is seen as crucial in bolstering Ukraine’s defenses and deterring Russian aggression.
Macron emphasized that the Mirage 2000 aircraft already supplied to Ukraine significantly enhance the country’s air defense capabilities.
Since the start of the conflict, France has delivered three out of six promised aircraft, though one was lost in July due to pilot training needs and other circumstances.
Furthermore, France and Italy have already supplied Ukraine with several Aster 15 and 30 missiles, which operate within the SAMP/T Mamba missile defense system — a modern French-Italian anti-aircraft system comparable to the American Patriot.
This allows Ukraine to maintain effective use of the SAMP-T missile system, a vital element of its defense strategy.
Macron highlighted the importance of continued efforts to support Ukraine and emphasized the need for pressure on Russia to preserve regional peace and security.
Leaders of the coalition are also considering future support scenarios and exploring diplomatic avenues toward conflict resolution, although no final ceasefire plan has been agreed upon to date.
