Future Breakthrough in Lyman’s Defense: Current Situation on Ukraine’s Northern Front
According to recent reports from Ukrainian sources, particularly the DeepState informational resource, the situation in northern Donetsk region has significantly intensified and could potentially lead to a large-scale breach by enemy forces in the Lyman area.
Russian troops are actively infiltrating through the forests in the triangular zone of Yampil-Lyman-Zarichne, employing tactics that leverage their numerical superiority in infantry to establish footholds at key locations and gradually advance deeper into Ukrainian-controlled territory.
They conduct these operations mostly equipped with hand grenades and small weapons, lacking additional supplies or ammunition.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian defenders observe increased activity from enemy drones, especially those targeting Ukrainian positions and logistics.
Notably, the enemy is not only infiltrating through the frontline but also actively pushing into Ukrainian positions, with Russian groups reaching the outskirts of Lyman itself.
Ukrainian military personnel highlight the acute shortage of personnel needed to cover infantry positions effectively, which hampers control and prevents the enemy’s further penetration.
The situation is partially stabilized by unmanned systems, which help identify and destroy enemy groups in the area.
Experts warn that neglecting this critical sector could soon result in significant media coverage if a breakthrough occurs in Lyman.
Earlier, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled a mechanized assault of Russian troops in the Serebrianka and Siversk regions, providing some hope for a more resilient defense across other sectors of the front.
