Brutal Crimes of Cybercriminal Syndicates in Myanmar: Torture, Murders, and Organized Slave Labor
Investigations by international journalists and human rights organizations have uncovered the horrifying scale of crimes committed by powerful cybercriminal syndicates in Myanmar.
It was revealed that under the guise of illegal activities, these organizations run systematic slave labor operations involving torture, organ removal, and murder.
Large-scale centers along the border with Thailand are functioning where thousands of people deceived with promises of legal work are subjected to forced labor.
They are forced to engage in online scams 24/7, facing threats and violence.
According to investigations, hundreds of thousands of victims—primarily from Asia, but increasingly from Africa, Europe, and South America—are trapped by these criminal structures that dominate nearly all aspects of their lives.
Witnesses attest that escape attempts are harshly punished: victims are beaten, abused, and even killed.
Former guards reveal that leadership resorted to violence without hesitation, and bodies of murdered victims were often thrown into rivers to hide evidence.
Local residents confirm finding bodies in the water.
Organized crime is mostly controlled by Chinese gangs in collaboration with local military groups, which provide security and logistics in exchange for a share of the profits.
These operations result in victims mostly being from Asia, but lately, the number of victims from other continents has increased.
All this occurs amid Myanmar’s ongoing civil war since 2021, when the military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing toppled the democratically elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi, resulting in over 7,300 deaths.
Officially, Myanmar supports Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and has been offering its territory to facilitate Russian business access to Asian markets to bypass sanctions.
Recent sanctions by the US and UK against major criminal networks like Prince Group underscore the scale of the problem.
Meanwhile, Myanmar’s military regime continues to show aggression: a recent air strike on a school in central Myanmar left at least 24 dead, including children, and over 50 wounded.
This situation highlights the ongoing regional conflict and criminal atrocities perpetrated by organized groups, with innocent victims paying the price.
