Ukraine Simplifies Procurement of Unmanned Systems and Electronic Warfare Equipment for Military Units

Chas Pravdy - 23 October 2025 00:21

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has significantly revised the procurement procedures for modern military technologies used by the National Guard and other armed formations.

Military units are now able to order drones, ground robotic complexes, electronic warfare (EW) systems, and components more rapidly and with less bureaucratic red tape through the new DOT-Chain Defence marketplace.

The corresponding government decree, which has launched an experimental project, was announced by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.

Previously, procurement of drone components and EW devices was hampered by the requirement for suppliers to gather a complete set of documentation for codified products, causing delays.

Now, military personnel can make direct purchases without intermediaries, drastically speeding up the delivery process.

Shmyhal emphasized that these innovations can cut the supply cycle from months to weeks or even days, greatly enhancing operational readiness and task execution quality.

Additionally, Ukraine and Poland are collaborating on a joint drone systems group to improve coordination and technological efficiency.

Notably, Ukraine’s defense industry has seen a thirty-fivefold increase in production over the past three years, with over 900 enterprises, most of which are privately owned, actively involved in developing and manufacturing advanced military hardware.
