Chas Pravdy - 23 October 2025 18:43

In Kyiv and its region, officers from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) conducted extensive searches in government offices and private premises of former Vice Prime Minister Oleksii Chernishov, igniting widespread public attention.

Reports indicate that the investigation is connected to potential abuse of power and money laundering derived from illicit activities.

Chernishov is suspected of involvement in establishing and managing a network of companies in the Kyiv region, allegedly providing services related to constructing and maintaining elite cottage settlements.

The law enforcement actions were based on recovered testimonies and evidence pointing to financial transactions involving amounts significantly exceeding declared incomes of the politician and his close associates.

The searches are part of a larger operation aimed at uncovering corruption schemes and abuses of authority at the highest levels of Ukrainian government, provoking criticism from opponents and surprise among the public.

It is recalled that Chernishov has previously been subject to public scrutiny concerning irregularities in the construction sector and possible tax evasion schemes.

Authorities emphasize that the case remains under investigation, with additional arrests and revelations possible soon.

Officials state that these measures were taken based on carefully gathered evidence and are part of efforts to root out corruption within Ukraine’s political system.

Experts highlight that this case holds symbolic importance for transparency and accountability in governance and could significantly impact the country’s political landscape, presenting new challenges for corrupt officials.
