Poland accuses Ukrainian of espionage: possession of drugs and treason
Recently, Poland made headlines by arresting two Ukrainians in the town of Biała Podlaska, located in the eastern part of the country.
One of them, Bogdan K., is accused of transmitting secret information to Russian-speaking individuals, aiming to destabilize regional security.
According to Polish prosecutors, a secured phone belonging to Bogdan contained correspondence indicating that he was providing photographs and geographical coordinates of critical military infrastructure of Poland’s armed forces.
He admitted to communicating with persons allegedly working for Russian intelligence and expressed pro-Russian views, including questioning Ukraine’s sovereignty.
In addition to espionage charges, he was also suspected of possessing 30 grams of illegal drugs.
A court decision resulted in his detention for three months to continue investigations.
The other individual, Kyrylo T., was accused of illegal drug possession but was later released on bail.
It’s noteworthy that Poland’s security agencies have previously detained Belarusian agents linked to cooperation with international counterparts to combat subversive activities.
Such incidents highlight the ongoing threats and geopolitical tensions in Eastern Europe, especially amid Russia’s hybrid warfare strategies aimed at destabilizing supportive countries of Ukraine.
