Zelensky Comments on ‘Freeze’ Front Idea as Potential Peace Compromise

Chas Pravdy - 22 October 2025 14:26

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his views on the recent proposal by U.S.

leader Donald Trump to halt active hostilities by freezing the front lines.

According to Zelensky, this idea presents a promising approach and could become an important step toward peace negotiations.

However, he expressed doubts that this initiative would gain support from Russian authorities.

Zelensky noted that Trump urged to stay put and begin diplomatic talks, which he considers a good compromise.

At the same time, he cautiously optimismized about the proposal but remained uncertain about Vladimir Putin’s backing.

The statement came amid reports of possible cancellation of the scheduled summit between Trump and Putin over Russia’s maximalist demands for ending the war.

Meanwhile, Russia maintains that preparations for a potential meeting are still ongoing.

Media sources indicate that Ukraine and Europe are preparing a 12-point plan to resolve the conflict, which involves gradually lifting sanctions, returning Ukrainian children, and freezing the front line—potentially marking a crucial step toward peace.
