Ukrainian Airborne Forces Reclaim Flag in Kucheriv Yar, Signaling Renewed Ukrainian Presence in Donbas

Chas Pravdy - 22 October 2025 19:42

Amid ongoing efforts to assert sovereignty and liberate occupied territories, Ukrainian military forces continue their active operations on the frontlines.

The latest significant event is the successful placement of Ukraine’s national flag by the Air Assault units in the village of Kucheriv Yar, located in the Pokrovsk district.

This act serves as a powerful symbol of Ukraine’s determination to regain control over this strategic region.

According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on October 22, soldiers from the reconnaissance and assault units raised the blue-yellow banner over destroyed buildings in the village, demonstrating resilience and national pride.

Videos posted on social media show members of the 132nd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion installing the flag amidst ruins, capturing a moment of patriotic triumph.

The accompanying comments declare: “Kucheriv Yar.

Pokrovsk direction.

Ukrainian soldiers.

DShV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Glory to Ukraine!” This rallying cry underscores the unity and unwavering spirit of the Ukrainian people.

Meanwhile, insights from the American Institute for the Study of War indicate that on another front — the Oleksandrivsk direction — Ukrainian forces have liberated the village of Sosnivka in the Velykomykhailivska community.

Inside the town of Pokrovsk, Russian aggressors are reportedly moving chaotically through the streets, occasionally engaging in firefights with Ukrainian units holding the line.

Experts suggest that the Kremlin does not intend to swiftly conclude the war and does not anticipate significant progress in negotiations with Ukraine.

Reports also reveal that Russian generals have already promised President Vladimir Putin to capture key cities such as Kupiansk and Pokrovsk, which could further complicate the conflict and prolong hostilities.
