Trump’s Pardoned Participant in Capitol Assault Planning Assassination of Democratic Leader

Chas Pravdy - 22 October 2025 04:30

The thwarted plan by the January 6 Capitol riot participant, pardon by Trump earlier this year, comes into focus in a new court case.

According to sources, 34-year-old Christopher Monegian from Clinton, New York, is suspected of preparing an attack against Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic leader in the House of Representatives.

It is known that on October 17, he sent text messages threatening to attack during Jeffries’ speech in New York, stating that he “cannot allow this terrorist to live” and that he “would do everything possible to eliminate him, even if it means killing for the future.” An anonymous observer notified the police about these threats, noting that Monegian had started actively using drugs and was expressing murderous fantasies.

He was arrested over the weekend and currently faces charges of terrorist threats.

Prosecutors reported that Monegian was brought before the court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty.

His next hearing is scheduled for October 23.

Despite these incidents, Jeffries’ speech at the New York Economic Club went smoothly without any incidents.

Notably, in 2023, Monegian was sentenced to 21 months in prison for participating in the Capitol riot.

It is also worth mentioning that Trump issued a general pardon to most participants of the January 6 events, including Monegian, although the White House has yet to comment officially on this situation.

This situation highlights the ongoing political tension surrounding the events and their repercussions in American politics.
