Ongoing Russian Attacks: New Strikes on Infrastructure and Civilian Casualties

Chas Pravdy - 22 October 2025 11:56

Last night, Russia launched yet another series of large-scale missile and drone attacks across Ukraine, targeting critical infrastructure, including oil and gas facilities and energy grids.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the assault caused a major fire at a gas and oil enterprise in Poltava region, with a security guard sustaining injuries.

Witnesses and local officials report direct hits and debris falling on facilities in the Myrhorod district, leading to further damage and risks.

Additionally, several regions—Chernihiv and Cherkasy—experienced damage to their critical infrastructure.

In Kirovohrad region, around 27 settlements were left without power, including the city of Svitlovodsk, home to the Kremenchuk hydroelectric plant.

Emergency response teams immediately convened, and assessments are underway.

Kirovohrad regional governor Andriy Rykovych stated that there were no human casualties, though infrastructure was destroyed.

Meanwhile, in Odesa region, in Izmail, drone strikes damaged port and energy facilities, leaving over 20,000 residents without electricity.

Several districts in Dnipropetrovsk also suffered damage to housing and important infrastructure.

The Ukrainian energy company Ukenergo announced power outages in several regions and is working on damage assessment and recovery.

To stabilize the energy system, emergency power outages and scheduled consumption restrictions for industrial sectors are in effect from 4 pm to 10 pm across Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that at least six people, including two children, lost their lives due to the attacks.

In the village of Pohreby near Brovary, Kyiv region, a six-month-old baby and a 12-year-old girl were killed, while a 38-year-old man was fatally wounded by shrapnel.

Two additional fatalities were recorded in Kyiv city.

The situation remains tense, with authorities coordinating emergency response efforts.
