Odesa Court Sentences Organizer of Attacks on Ukrainian Activists to 14 Years in Prison

Chas Pravdy - 22 October 2025 19:35

The Primorsky Court of Odesa delivered a landmark verdict against the orchestrator of assassination attempts targeting prominent public activists and civic leaders, including the head of the NGO ‘Street Front’ Dyvyan Ganyl.

On October 22, the court sentenced Mykola Mayorok to 14 years in prison with confiscation of property for his role in planning and organizing several murder attempts against people fighting for change in Ukraine.

The case not only involved direct orders and the execution of crimes but also held significant political and public importance.

Mayorok, who has experience in illegal operations, was detained in 2025 after an attempted murder of the organizer of the Revolution of Dignity, Dyvyan Ganyl.

During his arrest, a F-1 grenade and a phone with correspondence from a Russian supervisor were confiscated, revealing additional facets of the criminal case.

Notably, Mayorok disclosed cooperation with Russian security agencies and was involved in ordered killings of other activists and politicians, including a failed attempt on former Verkhovna Rada chairman Andriy Parubiy.

Among potential targets were political assassinations that could profoundly impact Ukraine’s situation and security.

The verdict represents a significant step in the fight against organized crime and political murder plots, offering hope for further measures against shadowy groups seeking to destabilize Ukraine and undermine its democratic development.
