Little Heroes Without Fear: How Children Were Rescued After night missile strike in Kharkiv

Chas Pravdy - 22 October 2025 13:34

On the morning of October 22, the city of Kharkiv once again witnessed tragic events as Russian forces carried out another massive missile attack, destroying a local kindergarten.

Several young children were injured in the attack, many of whom were profoundly frightened and wounded.

However, what mattered most during this difficult time was how quickly and efficiently rescuers and police acted, emotionally carrying over fifty children out of the rubble.

Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko shared on Facebook that all children had been evacuated from danger, holding onto the rescuers’ shoulders with tiny hands.

Photos from the scene show rescuers and law enforcement officers holding crying or frightened children amid ruins and smoke.

The minister emphasized that Russia is conducting a systematic campaign of destruction and killing, depriving civilians, especially children, of their basic right to life and safety.

Police along with security agencies are documenting this war crime as part of international procedures.

The background of the event is clear: Russian aggressors struck Kharkiv with at least three missiles, including an attack on a private kindergarten, resulting in one civilian death and six injuries.

This is yet another stark manifestation of cruelty and ruthlessness by the aggressor country, and the international community calls for increased sanctions and decisive actions to protect Ukrainian citizens and peaceful residents.
