How to Obtain Permission to Stay in the Border Zone During Wartime

Chas Pravdy - 22 October 2025 04:39

Ukraine has declared a state of martial law and is conducting a general mobilization, significantly affecting movement regulations in border regions.

During wartime and under imposed restrictions, it is crucial to understand the official procedures for obtaining permission to stay within the border zone, especially for activities such as mountain hikes or other purposes.

As explained by Lieutenant Colonel Ihor Zarudnev, assistant head of the Chernivtsi Border Detachment, citizens can apply for a written permit that allows legal presence, entry, or work in designated border areas.

To do so, individuals should contact the head of the relevant border detachment or submit an application digitally through official channels, with contact information available on the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine website.

Responses are provided either as a QR code or an official signed document.

Authorities may refuse permission to individuals previously involved in violations of border regulations or attempting illegal border crossings.

Additionally, enterprises or organizations with past infractions may be denied permission to operate within border zones.

This process ensures that movement is monitored, maintaining security and order amid ongoing military operations and mobilization efforts, thereby reducing risks associated with unauthorized border activities during wartime.
