Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov Accuses Poland of Preparing Acts of Terror Against Putin’s Aircraft

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov issued a stern statement claiming that Poland might be involved in planning acts of terrorism targeting Vladimir Putin’s aircraft.

According to Lavrov, this suspicion arises after the Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski publicly stated that Polish airspace cannot guarantee the safety of the Russian leader’s plane during a hypothetical flight through Poland on its way to Budapest.

Lavrov expressed concerns that Poland could be inclined to orchestrate provocations, including possible attacks or explosions on the Russian aircraft.

He also referenced a Polish court decision refusing to extradite a Ukrainian suspect, Volodymyr Zhuravlov, involved in the Nord Stream pipeline sabotage, asserting that the ruling implicitly supports terrorism.

Polish officials, including the Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs, have warned that if Putin’s plane attempts to cross Polish territory en route to Budapest, it could be forcibly intercepted and forced to land.

They voiced fears that the legal system might be used# to detain the Russian leader, which could escalate geopolitical tensions.

Meanwhile, European Union officials like Kaja Kallas have expressed concern regarding the possibility of Putin visiting the EU despite an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.

Polish circles consider it unlikely that Putin would choose a route over Polish airspace for his arrival in Budapest, given the political and security risks involved.
