Russian Air Strikes on Ukraine: Massive Drone and Missile Attack

Chas Pravdy - 21 October 2025 09:26

On the night of October 21-22, Ukraine once again experienced a large-scale air assault carried out by Russia, which deployed a sophisticated arsenal to attack Ukrainian territory.

According to official reports from the Ukrainian Air Forces, the enemy launched a massive attack using two Iskander-M and KN-23 ballistic missiles, along with four S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles.

In addition, nearly 100 attack drones of various types, including Shahed, Heron, and other models, were directed at different regions of Ukraine.

Ukrainian defenses managed to shoot down or suppress 58 drones using air defense systems, but 37 drones and all missiles hit their targets.

The strikes were registered in 10 locations across the country, indicating the scale and precision of the attack.

Ukrainian military sources noted that most of the attack drones—about 70 out of 98—were of the Shahed attack type, presenting a significant challenge to air defense capabilities.

The Ukrainian Air Force, air defense units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile firing groups effectively countered the assault.

By the morning of October 22, the situation remained tense, with several drones still airborne, posing ongoing threats to national security.

This incident marks yet another episode in Russia’s ongoing missile and drone attacks against Ukraine, a tactic that has become routine in the ongoing war.
