How Parents of Children with Disabilities Can Obtain Deferral from Military Service During Mobilization

Chas Pravdy - 21 October 2025 04:30

In the context of Ukraine’s general mobilization and wartime regime, many men are receiving summons to serve in the armed forces.

However, certain categories of citizens are eligible for deferments, including parents of children with disabilities.

The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine announced that the online application process within the ‘Reserv+’ mobile app now allows parents to request deferment not only for those with children under 18 but also for parents of adults with disabilities.

Officially confirmed disability information must be registered in the relevant state databases to enable automated processing of requests.

To apply for a deferment, parents should update the ‘Reserv+’ app to the latest version, log in, select the ‘Submit deferment request’ menu, and choose the appropriate category: ‘Parents of an adult child with disability’ or ‘Parents of a child with disability up to 18 years old.’ After submitting the request, they will need to wait for a notification about the results.

Rejections often occur due to insufficient or outdated information in the Ministry of Social Policy’s systems, such as missing or incorrect details about the child’s disability status.

Updating data can be done via Centers for Administrative Services, social protection offices at the residence, or online through the Electronic Personal Account.

It requires presenting original documents or their scanned copies to update the system records.

These procedures facilitate parents’ efforts to obtain deferments during wartime, ensuring accurate data and faster processing.
