Continuous Russian attacks destroy Ukraine’s Chernihiv energy infrastructure, hindering repair efforts
A new wave of destructive attacks by Russian forces has severely impacted the Chernihiv region, where the energy infrastructure suffered significant damage.
On Tuesday night, October 21, the Russian military launched another large-scale assault targeting regional energy facilities, causing widespread power outages.
Emergency teams faced immense challenges as relentless kamikaze drone strikes hampered their efforts to restore electricity.
These attacks repeatedly fly over damaged infrastructure sites, making safe repair operations nearly impossible. Thanks to these ongoing assaults, repair crews are forced to wait until shelling subsides before conducting necessary repairs.
The region saw yet another missile strike on a critical energy facility, leaving thousands without power.
Currently, the entire Chernihiv region, including its northern parts, remains without electricity, affecting hundreds of thousands of residents.
Recent days also saw attacks on railway infrastructure and damage to oil refineries and agricultural facilities.
Notably, a traction substation of Ukrzaliznytsia was damaged, complicating transportation and logistics.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, but prolonged power outages present major challenges for the region’s recovery efforts amidst ongoing hostilities.
