Ukrainian Forces Achieve Significant Progress on the Hottest Sector of the Frontline: A Detailed Analysis
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) continue active combat operations on the most challenging and critical section of the frontline, attracting international military analysts and experts’ attention.
According to recent open-source reports, particularly from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian units have made a substantial breakthrough in Donetsk region, notably along the Pokrovsk direction.
Russian military bloggers, whose reports are now used to assess the situation, have indicated that Ukrainian forces advanced to the northern outskirts of the village of Leontovychi, located just five kilometers south of Pokrovsk, and are still penetrating into the Zvirove area.
Analysts emphasize that these reports rely on military bloggers’ accounts, which are deemed credible, avoiding fabricated victories. The reports also mention that Russian troops supposedly advanced within the Rodynske area, north of Pokrovsk, although the ISW has not confirmed these claims.
Additionally, in the Dobropillia district, Ukrainian forces recently made a tactical breakthrough south of Shakhove village, marking a critical element of Ukraine’s counteroffensive efforts in this sector. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that in the past day, Ukrainian defenders repelled 53 attempts by the occupiers to push forward in the Pokrovsk area, representing over a third of all enemy assaults during this period.
In total, the enemy launched 151 attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses, most of which were successfully repelled.Russian forces intensified their efforts in areas such as Shakhove, Volodymyrivka, Rodynske, Novoekonomichne, Chervonyi Lyman, Mrynograd, Sukhyi Yar, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udačne, Filiya, Promin, Lysivka, Molodetske, and Dачne.
Moreover, according to ISW, Russian troops made progress north of Mrynograd.
The situation remains tense, but Ukrainian troops continue to demonstrate high combat effectiveness and resilience.
