Ukrainian drones destroy Russian ‘Vadi’ radar system in Crimea

Chas Pravdy - 20 October 2025 17:30

The armed forces of Ukraine have taken another significant step in countering Russian military technology by demolishing the Russian ‘Vadi’ radar station at the Janokyi airfield in temporarily occupied Crimea.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported that the operation was carried out using advanced unmanned aerial systems operated by specialists from the UAV Department of the Active Actions Directorate.

With the help of modern drones, Ukrainian intelligence personnel tracked and precisely targeted the camouflaged Russian radar station, designed to detect small unmanned aerial vehicles.

The agency highlighted that the ‘Vadi’ system is among the latest Russian developments, used by Russian forces to combat Ukrainian UAVs.

Its destruction marks another step toward demilitarizing Crimea and strengthening Ukraine’s regional defenses.

As the Ministry of Defense emphasizes, “The demilitarization of Crimea continues! The struggle for Ukraine’s sovereignty and security persists!”
