UK Officials Express Concern Over Gaza Ceasefire Violations Amid Escalating Conflict
The United Kingdom has voiced strong concern and condemnation regarding the increasing tensions in the Gaza region, which, following recent clashes, is again becoming a hotspot of large-scale conflicts.
Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), criticized the escalation of violence and emphasized that the ceasefire agreement, signed last week with the United States, remains in effect.
However, the situation is rapidly deteriorating as Israeli armed forces launched airstrikes and artillery on several targets in Gaza following rocket attacks by Hamas militants.
Ms.
Cooper stressed that ‘the ceasefire must be maintained, and humanitarian aid should reach those in need.’ She called on all parties to adhere to the ceasefire agreement to prevent further bloodshed.
Meanwhile, U.S.
President Donald Trump stated that the ceasefire in Gaza is still operational despite recent deadly strikes, although he did not confirm whether Israeli attacks were justified.
Concurrently, a hostage exchange process has begun in Gaza between the Israeli government and Hamas militants.
According to reports from Hamas’s media office, Israel has killed over 97 Palestinians and broken the ceasefire 80 times since its signing.
Trump previously indicated that he might authorize Israel’s Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to resume military operations if Hamas fails to abide by the ceasefire terms, even suggesting that Israeli troops could return to the streets ‘as soon as I say the word.’
